who we are
We Be Grubbin' was born out of respect for the recipes and food traditions that have been passed down through my family for generations.
I grew up eating Soul Food every weekend at my Grandmother's house. She always had a big pot of greens with ham hocks simmering on the stove. My Grandmother, Elise had an open door policy and would make a fresh batch of hot water cornbread whenever we stopped by. Each of my Aunts had a special dish they would bring to family gatherings; BBQ, fried chicken and mac and cheese were always some of my favorites. As I got older I came to understand how our diets affect our overall health and wellbeing, so I began making healthier, plant-based versions of the classic dishes everyone loves. All of our food is from scratch, full of flavor and made with love just like my Grandmother used to make. - Kimberly Jackson
